THE FLASH: Danielle Panabaker to Make Her Directorial Debut
Danielle Panabaker will be have two chairs in a The Flash episode this season. One, her typical actor’s chair, and two, her director chair! That’s right everybody, Danielle will direct her first episode of The Flash in an upcoming episode (TBD – or at least, we don’t know which episode yet), and technically its her first time stepping into the director’s spotlight ever. Sam Witwer Joins SUPERGIRL Season 4 in Series Regular Role
Casting is underway for new characters on The CW’s Arrowverse, including Supergirl. Today, the show (which is entering its fourth season) has added a major new player to the cast. LEGENDS OF TOMORROW Won’t Be Part of the Next Arrowverse Crossover
Fans were excited to hear that this year’s annual Arrowverse crossover event will center around Batwoman and Gotham City. In fact, Batwoman is going to be the star of her own series soon. However, it looks like one show won’t be part of the event. According to Entertainment Weekly, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is sitting out this year’s crossover. The event will consist of Supergirl, Arrow, and The Flash. No reason why Legends will be absent. It’s also unclear if this rules out any Legends characters in the event or just its episode that week. BATWOMAN TV Series in the Works
Batwoman is coming to The CW! But wait. You’re confused. You already knew this from reading this article HERE? There’s more! We’re getting a Batwoman TV series! Hollywood Reporter has the details, but we’ll give you the gist. The series will star Kate Kane, DC Comic’s prominent LGBTQ superhero, street fighter extraordinaire, working on overcoming her demons. Kate will still be officially introduced in the crossover in December, but Greg Berlanti and Caroline Dries(Vampire Diaries, Smallville) are working on writing some scripts for the character if The CW should choose to greenlight a series. New TITANS Details Tease a More Mature Tone
This week, DC officially unveiled its forthcoming digital service, DC Universe. At the heart of the platform is a slate of original shows, beginning this year with Titans. Now, we have some new details on what to expect from the series. Splash Report has been sent an early review of Titans‘ first episode, and it dives deeply into the episode’s story. WATCHMEN Pilot Adds More to Cast, Including AQUAMAN’s Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
Production on Damon Lindelof’s Watchmen pilot is well underway, and the potential series is being headlined by the likes of Regina King and Jeremy Irons. Now, we have some more additions to the cast. HBO has announced (via TV Line) that actors Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Sara Vickers, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, and Jacob Ming-Trent have joined the Watchmen cast in major roles. This marks Abdul-Mateen II’s second DC role; he plays the villain Black Manta in this winter’s Aquaman movie. No character details have been disclosed yet. Warner Bros. Television Announces DC-Heavy Presence at San Diego Comic-Con 2018
Warner Bros. Television has announced its plans for next month’s San Diego Comic-Con, and the studio is bringing most of its major DC shows to the spotlight. Everything from the Arrowverse to Krypton to Young Justice: Outsiders will be represented. Additionally, we now know when Freedom Fighters: The Ray‘s second season debuts, while we have new details on forthcoming seasons for other shows. James Wan Reportedly Set to Co-Direct SWAMP THING Pilot
Last month, it was announced that DC is developing a new Swamp Thing show for its upcoming streaming service, DC Universe. One very interesting thing is that it is being executive produced by James Wan, who directs DC Films’ next title, Aquaman. Now, it looks like Wan will have another role to play. According to That Hashtag Show, Wan is on board to direct the Swamp Thing pilot alongside Deran Sarafian. While Sarafian doesn’t have the blockbuster experience than Wan has, he has a history of directing for television, including Buffy the Vampire Slayer and House. Swamp Thing has been ordered for 13 episodes. The show will begin production later…
