ABC Shifts AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. to Midseason and New Timeslot; INHUMANS Joins Fall Schedule
ABC has unveiled its schedule for its 2017-2018 television year, and it confirms some big shifts for its Marvel slate. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will not premiere its fifth season until midseason next year. Not only that, but it’s been given a new timeslot: Fridays at 9 PM EST. However, the season still has a 22-episode order. Meanwhile, Inhumans will occupy the Fridays at 9 PM EST for the fall. It premieres on September 22nd, following the IMAX premiere of the first two episodes. That show will only run for eight episodes (for its first season, anyways), so S.H.I.E.L.D. will take its place for the second half of the season. So…

One of the most frequently fancast superhero roles in recent memory is DC’s Shazam. The character will star in his own movie, which was originally set to feature Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam. Now, Johnson has expressed interest in an actor for the Shazam role. Speaking with We Got This Covered (transcription via Heroic Hollywood), The Rock reaffirmed that Black Adam’s backstory is a big draw to him, and he’s been trying to play that character for about 10 years now. Talk then shifted…

BLACK LIGHTNING Gets a Series Order at The CW
The next DC superhero to enter the world of television is Black Lightning, thanks to Salim and Mara Brock Akil, as well as Greg Berlanti. The pilot was originally set up at Fox, before moving over to The CW. The latter network is already home to all of Berlanti’s other comic book shows (the Arrowverse shows and Riverdale), so Black Lightning seemed like a natural fit. Now, it’s official. The CW has confirmed a series order for Black Lightning. The show stars Cress Williams as Jefferson Pierce, who returns to the world of superheroics/vigilantism after years of retirement. The series also stars Nafessa Williams, China Anne McClain, and Christine Adams. While…
