WONDER WOMAN on Track to Gross at Least $65 Million in Opening Weekend

We’re less than a month away from the release of DC Films’ Wonder Woman. So far, all three installments in the DC Extended Universe have made a lot of money, with Suicide Squad having the biggest overall net profit. This week, the early tracking numbers for Wonder Woman are in, and they indicate a solid opening weekend for Diana Prince’s long awaited first film.

Both Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter say that Wonder Woman is currently on track to gross at least $65 million in its opening weekend. That would put it on par with the first Thor and Captain America movies back in 2011. However, one tracking source shares a more confident prediction with The Wrap, citing a big $105 million debut.

Of course, tracking can easily go up or down as we get closer to release. For example, Deadline expects the number to go up to $75 million next week. Additionally, the film is generating interest from both male and female audiences. And the movie allegedly has a smaller budget than past DCEU entries, which should make it easier to churn a good profit.

In other Wonder Woman news, IGN has premiered a new theatrical poster. In this one-sheet, Diana Prince is accompanied by Steve Trevor. Stay tuned for more updates as we have them.

Wonder Woman is scheduled to hit theaters June 2nd. The fourth installment in the DC Extended Universe stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Ewen Bremner, Saïd Taghmaoui, Elena Anaya, Lucy Davis, Lisa Loven Kongsli and Connie Nielsen. Patty Jenkins directs from a script by Geoff Johns and Allan Heinberg.
