Supergirl has made some more additions to its cast for season four, and one of them is a key supporting player in Superman lore. According to Deadline, actress Rhona Mitra has joined Supergirl in the recurring role of Mercy Graves, Lex Luthor’s former bodyguard. This take on Mercy is described as “…an ex-CADMUS agent who has always believed in human exceptionalism. But with both Lex and Lillian in prison, Mercy is stepping out of the Luthor shadow and running her own show. With her biting wit and lethal brawn, Mercy steadily becomes a key figure in National City’s growing ‘human-first’ movement.” Mercy was originally created for Superman: The Animated Series, before…

Cinema is sacred, and it needs to be protected at all costs. Unfortunately, every now and then, a film comes along, trying to tarnish the art form. Whether it’d be a movie that exists just for advertising purposes, a movie with a CGI’d animal protagonist, or a remake that rips off a masterpiece shot for shot, there are some movies that really make you question why they were ever greenlit – and who exactly greenlit them. Here are 10 of those movies that made me lose hope in cinema. The Emoji Movie 💩 The Bye Bye Man When you’re a horror movie called The Bye Bye Man, you’d better poke…

VENOM Director Talks Sequel Plans and Lack of White Spider Symbol; New Trailer Coming Soon
Sony showcased its Venom movie at San Diego Comic-Con last week, and since then, we’ve gotten a bunch of news tidbits surrounding the film. Here, we compile a few of them. Speaking with Comic Book, director Ruben Fleischer confirms that the movie does open the door for sequels down the line. However, it all depends on how people respond to the first film. “We’ve definitely laid some groundwork for different directions that the franchise could go but obviously it all hinges on people’s excitement about this film. I hope people will stay and see what seeds have been planted.” Venom is expected to kick off a new slate of Sony Marvel…

BATMAN: MASK OF THE PHANTASM Review
Batman gets framed for murder while a new foe has appeared. Are these two somehow connected? When people discuss which Batman movie is the best, Mask of the Phantasm is often one of the contenders during those conversations. After rewatching it again years after my first watch, I can safely say that I understand why, even though I might not find it to be the crown jewel for the Caped Crusader, it is a spot on his personal Mount Rushmore for sure though. What I like the most about this movie, is that while it is truly a crime thriller first and foremost, it dwells more into the mind of…

Legendary’s DETECTIVE PIKACHU Movie Switches to Warner Bros.
A couple years ago, Legendary Pictures and The Pokémon Company struck a deal to create live action movies based on the Pokémon franchise. This comes as Legendary is looking to renew its distribution deal with WB, after signing with Universal in 2013. While Legendary and WB collaborated a couple times since –…

Review: ATTACK ON TITAN Season 3 Episode 1
Holy animation craze Batman. Three manga/anime related reviews in such a short amount of time? Maybe I should change my twitter handle to Animemaniacs after all. Anyway, after my week of Attack on Titan related posts, it felt like a no-brainer to cover season 3. Wasn’t so sure if I should do an episode by episode review, or an overall season review like the previous two. But after some days of thinking, I decided to try the former just for the sake of it. Without further ado, let the review begin. The mystery from season two just keeps getting bigger as Eren and his friends are on the run. Unlike…

THE BATMAN Reportedly Taking Influence from YEAR ONE, Plus a Production Update
We’ve heard a lot about The Batman in various rumors and reports from other sites, but very little directly from Warner Bros. or DC. Matt Reeves has been writing away, while Ben Affleck is looking increasingly unlikely to reprise the role. Now, a new report sheds some light on Reeves’ approach to the film, as well as when we can expect production to begin. According to our friend Mario at Revenge of the Fans, The Batman will “bear a resemblance” to Frank Miller’s Batman: Year One. (Think of how Batman v Superman had some influence from The Dark Knight Returns.) It’s unknown exactly how much of the original comic will…

Today, GWW/Omega Underground has come out with yet another comic book related scoop. This time, it contains a director for the upcoming movie Old Guard, based on the Image comic book by the same name. Gina Prince-Bythewood has signed on to direct the movie, produced by Skydance. Review: DRAGON BALL HEROES Episode 2
While the search for Trunk continues, Goku, Vegeta, and Mai cross path with a mysterious foe who wields a weird KI. Even though I got some flack for my review for this point, It’s worth repeating. Dragon Ball Heroes continues to be a massive disappointment. Just because they said that this is what we would be getting, doesn’t mean that we have to eat it up you are some mindless drone. I give the episode this; It’s far better than the pilot episode. The animation is of higher quality, the action (the little that they manage to squeeze in) was far more engaging, even though I still felt like watched…
