Jason Momoa In Talks To Join BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN; Is He Up For Doomsday Or Martian Manhunter?
We have some more casting news for Warner Bros.’ hotly anticipated Batman vs. Superman, which begins filming next February. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Game of Thrones and Conan the Barbarian star Jason Momoa is negotiating for a role. While it isn’t known which character he is up for, THR suggests that he could play Doomsday, who has been rumored to be the sequel’s main villain alongside Lex Luthor. A source speculates that Momoa could even be in talks for the role of Martian Manhunter, a key member of the Justice League.
The studio is reportedly placing multiple JLA members in Batman vs. Superman; in addition to Wonder Woman, The Flash is expected to make some sort of appearance (probably a cameo). So, it wouldn’t be out of the question for Momoa to be cast as one of these characters. However, the actor is a better fit for a physically aggressive character like Doomsday.
Momoa was previously in the superhero movie mix earlier this year, when he was in talks to play Drax the Destroyer in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. The actor’s demand for a higher salary cost him the role, which was filled by Dave Bautista. Hopefully, negotiations will go better for Batman vs. Superman.
Batman vs. Superman (not the final title) is scheduled to hit theaters July 17th, 2015. The follow-up to Man of Steel, the next installment in the DC Cinematic Universe stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Diane Lane, and Laurence Fishburne. Zack Snyder directs from a script by David S. Goyer.
