THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE Release Date Set; THE LEGO MOVIE SEQUEL Moves Up One Week
Following the success of The LEGO Movie last year, Warner Bros. put several spin-offs and a direct sequel into development. And now, the studio has announced official release dates for all but one of them.
First up, we have The LEGO Batman Movie, which is set to hit theaters February 10th, 2017. Will Arnett reprises his role as the Caped Crusader, with Chris McKay directing and Seth Grahame-Smith writing. The Ninjago spin-off, which was originally slated for a 2016 release, will now debut on September 22nd, 2017. And finally, The LEGO Movie Sequel will be released on May 18th, 2018, one week earlier than previously announced.
Still to be dated is Billion Brick Race, which will be co-directed and co-written by Drew Pearce and Jason Segel. However, that movie is expected to hit theaters sometime in 2019.
“We are very excited about dating our upcoming LEGO animated features, which already have a worldwide fan following, built on the foundation of the first film,” says Dan Fellman, WB President of domestic distribution, “These three films already in the pipeline are just the beginning of a creative and diverse animation slate that will be delighting audiences for years to come.”
