The LEGO Movie spin-off The LEGO Batman Movie is currently assembling an impressive voice cast. Will Arnett will return as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Michael Cera is Robin, Rosario Dawson is Barbara Gordon, and Zach Galifianakis is closing a deal to voice The Joker. And now, we have yet another great casting choice for another iconic Batman supporting character.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor Ralph Fiennes is set to voice Alfred Pennyworth, Batman’s butler. The LEGO Batman Movie will mark the Oscar winner’s first voice role since 2005’s Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.
Alfred is one of Batman’s most recognizable supporting characters, appearing in just about every incarnation of the Dark Knight’s mythology. Most recently, Alfred will be played by Jeremy Irons in next year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, marking (hopefully) a recurring role in the DC Extended Universe.
Chris McKay directs The LEGO Batman Movie, which was written by Seth Grahame-Smith (who is also in talks to write and direct The Flash movie). The animated film is set to hit theaters on February 10th, 2017.
