Casting is now underway on NBC’s pilot, Powerless, a workplace comedy set in the DC Universe. The pilot and potential series will follow a group of workers at an insurance company, as well as their perspectives on their world’s superheroes. Today, the pilot has cast its first role, recruiting a big name to join the DCU.
It has been announced (via THR) that Vanessa Hudgens will star in the Powerless pilot. The Spring Breakers and High School Musical alum will play Emily Locke, described as “an insurance claims adjuster who loves her job because she gets to help people. Emily likes to fly under the radar and just get her work done. She finds herself increasingly exasperated by the disruptive antics of the various Super Heroes that proliferate in her city.” If the pilot is ordered for a full series, Powerless will mark Hudgen’s first regular television role.
Powerless is the latest DC Comics venture to television, but so far, it sounds like the most unique entry yet. Fingers crossed that NBC will order to series. Stay tuned for more news as we have it.
