Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill Confirmed to Star in BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE Movie

After months of rumors and speculation, it has finally been confirmed. Via Comic Book Resources, veteran Batman and Joker actors Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill will reprise their roles in DC’s animated film, Batman: The Killing Joke. Based on the acclaimed yet controversial graphic novel, the movie will be executive produced by Batman: The Animated Series co-creator Bruce Timm.

Additionally, Tara Strong will reprise her role as Barbara Gordon in the film. Since The New Batman Adventures, Strong has voiced the character in various animated movies and television shows. Finally, Ray Wise will provide the voice for Barbara’s father, Commissioner Jim Gordon.

Also, Hamill shared the above first-look image on Twitter. The image offers a first look at the movie’s animation style.

Hamill had this to say to CBR about returning to the role of The Joker for The Killing Joke. “The chance to work once again with Kevin Conroy, my favorite Batman, in what some consider the definitive origin of this iconic villain is a dream come true for me. I am beyond thrilled to return as The Joker in The Killing Joke!”

Conroy adds, “I’ve had the great privilege of voicing Batman for more than two decades, and some of my favorite moments in the recording booth have been alongside Mark Hamill. Mark always enables me to be a better actor. I’m thrilled that we’re both back to bring these characters to life in one of the most heralded Batman/Joker stories of all time.”

Conroy and Hamill previously worked together on Batman: TAS, as well as other DCAU projects and the Batman: Arkham games. Conroy also voiced Batman in other DC video games and animated projects. The two have established themselves as the definitive voices of Batman and Joker, and the idea of them reuniting for The Killing Joke is extremely exciting, to say the least.

Batman: The Killing Joke will release later this summer on home video. The world premiere will be held at San Diego Comic-Con 2016.
