WONDER WOMAN Scribe Hired to Write DC’s LOBO Movie
For the past several years, Warner Bros. has been trying to get a Lobo movie off the ground. Most recently, in 2012, Brad Peyton was hired to direct, with Dwayne Johnson in talks to play DC’s alien bounty hunter. Both eventually dropped out, with Johnson now set to play Black Adam in the Shazam film. But now, the studio is moving forward with Lobo, as a previous DC writer will now take a crack at it.
According to The Wrap, screenwriter Jason Fuchs, who wrote the script for next year’s Wonder Woman, has been hired to pen Lobo. WB allowing him to write two DC scripts in a row certainly shows a level of confidence from the studio; even if Fuchs’ last WB venture, Pan, was a disappointment.
Several scribes have worked on Lobo over the years. However, The Wrap suggests that Fuchs will start from scratch with his own iteration.
No word on a director or release date yet, but this move indicates that WB is still very interested in bringing Lobo to the big screen. Perhaps the success of Fox’s Deadpool – which stars another cult-favorite, more mature comic book antihero – played a role in this recent development?
