DEADPOOL Director Reveals Past Meeting with Warner Bros. About LOBO Movie

A couple weeks ago, it was reported that Warner Bros. is moving ahead with a Lobo movie, with Wonder Woman scribe Jason Fuchs penning a new script. Of course, this is only the latest attempt to bring the Main Man to the big screen. WB has had this film in development for several years, so we’ll see if Fuchs’ script gets made.

But for a past iteration, it turns out WB had a meeting with none other than Tim Miller. Speaking with HitFix, the Deadpool director reveals that he and the studio met to discuss Lobo. “I met on…Lobo two, three years ago. They had a script then. So it’s not like — and I think they even did a test for it early on. I think it’s something that filmmakers and sometimes the studios want to do [R-rated superhero movies]. They just haven’t seen that they can actually make money.”

Of course, Deadpool has been a huge box office success, grossing nearly $757 million at the box office. So, R-rated superhero films can make money, if done right. Many have suggested that Lobo is WB’s answer to Deadpool‘s success, which makes sense, given how similar the two characters are. But it’s interesting how Tim Miller was considered for one gig and ended up getting the other.
