Aquaman was recently moved to an October 5th, 2018 release, which is a few months later than its initial summer 2018 date. Despite the delay, filming locations are still being scouted, with an eye to begin production early next year. Plus, casting is underway, and we now know who is playing one of Aquaman’s key supporting characters.
According to Deadline, actor Patrick Wilson has been cast as Orm, aka Ocean Master, in Aquaman. Wilson previously worked with director James Wan on The Conjuring films, he was in Zack Snyder’s Watchmen, and he provided the voice of the United States President in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Orm is Aquaman’s Atlantean half-brother. In the comics, he served as a rival to the throne of Atlantis, and he is one of Arthur Curry’s greatest enemies. Expect something similar to play out in the movie. It was previously reported that Black Manta would be the big bad in Aquaman. But with Orm now in the picture, could that still be the case?
Aquaman also stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard and Willem Dafoe.
Stay tuned for more news as we have it.
