Animated SPIDER-MAN Movie Casts Mahershala Ali and Brian Tyree Henry
In addition to Sony’s tentative new Spider-Man trilogy and a slew of spin-offs, the studio is developing an animated movie starring Miles Morales. The still-untitled film, produced by Chris Miller and Phil Lord, will star Shameik Moore as Miles, with Liev Schrieber playing the villain. Bob Persichetti and Peter Ramsey are directing.
Now, we have two more actors for the voice cast. According to The Tracking Board, the Spider-Man animated movie has added Oscar winner Mahershala Ali and Atlanta‘s Brian Tyree Henry to its voice cast. Ali will voice Aaron Davis, Miles’ loving uncle who works on the wrong side of the law. Henry will play Jefferson Davis, Miles’ father who is also a detective. Aaron is said to have a larger role in the story than Jefferson.
This will mark Ali’s second Marvel role, following his fantastic performance as Cottonmouth Cornell Stokes on Netflix’s Luke Cage. He is also coming off of a wildly successful year, as he won an Academy Award for his supporting role in Moonlight.
Stay tuned for more news as we have it. The untitled Spider-Man animated movie is scheduled to hit theaters on December 14th, 2018.
