Ben Affleck Officially Out as BATMAN
Just this morning we got news that director Matt Reeves (War for the Planet of the Apes), is moving forward with his next film, The Batman. Now, he has to find an actor to don the cape and cowl. Deadline is reporting that Ben Affleck is officially dropping the tights for good.
Affleck has previously played the Dark Knight in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, and Justice League. Warner Bros. did announce a release date for The Batman. The film is set to hit theaters June 25th, 2021. The film will focus on a younger Batman but will not be based on Batman: Year One as previously reported.
With the Shazam!, Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of one Harley Quinn, Joker, and Wonder Woman 1984, The Batman is following a line of solo films [Birds of Prey being the exception] after the disappointment of their team-up films, Suicide Squad and Justice League. Ben Affleck took to Twitter to address the news.
