Matt Reeves is Finally Moving Forward with THE BATMAN

Director Matt Reeves (War For The Planet of The Apes) has finally given us an update on The Batman. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Reeves shared a few new tidbits. Let’s break it down.

“Right now it’s called The Batman,
What it will be called ultimately, I don’t know. “

The film is still working under the title of The Batman. Casting is going to start ramping up soon, as they are hoping for a 2021 release date.

“We haven’t been dated, I wouldn’t commit to this, but we’re thinking the movie would probably be for 2021, late spring or summer. Warner Bros. has been incredibly supportive and given me a lot of time and shared the same passion that I do for this story.”

This would likely make it the fourth DC film over the next two years, following the highly anticipated Wonder Woman 1984. Reeves still has to give the script one more rewrite before they’re ready to move forward. We don’t have much, but the film will feature multiple Batman villains.

“There will be a Rogues Gallery, the casting process will begin shortly. We’re starting to put together our battle plan. I’m doing another pass on the script and we’ll begin some long-lead stuff to start developing conceptual things.”

Reeves has previously stated that his film will have a noir feel, as well as draw inspiration from Batman: Year One. With rumors of Reeves looking to cast a younger Batman, the casting process is definitely one of the most intriguing things about this film.

We’ll keep you updated on all thing regarding The Batman. In the mean time, stay tuned for all of our DC Films coverage.
