BATGIRL Moving Forward with New Screenwriter
A Batgirl movie was announced last year when Joss Whedon was hired to write and direct. However, two months ago, Whedon dropped out, saying that he couldn’t crack the story. Around that same time, it was reported that Batgirl would go on the backburner as DC shifts focus to its A-list heroes. However, the film is moving forward with a new writer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, screenwriter Christina Hodson has been hired to take on Batgirl. In addition to the Bumblebee movie, Hodson previously wrote a script for Birds of Prey, a spinoff featuring many female DC characters.
