Breaking news! Warner Bros. has officially confirmed rumors that Wonder Woman will make her live action big screen debut in Batman vs. Superman, which hits theaters July 17th, 2015. Gal Gadot, who was recently seen in Fast & Furious 6, will play Diana Prince in the Zack Snyder-directed film, which stars Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman. Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, and Diane Lane will reprise their roles from Man of Steel.
Wonder Woman was previously rumored to be Bruce Wayne’s mysterious love interest, as well as making a cameo. Gadot was one of the actresses linked to the former alongside Olga Kurylenko and Elodie Yung. THR’s Borys Kit confirms that the script is still being written, and that Diana’s role went “from small to bigger”.
Zack Snyder had this to say about casting Gadot as Wonder Woman. “Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.”
