Daniel Radcliffe Expresses Interest In Playing The BATMAN Reboot’s Robin

After headlining Warner Bros.’ most successful franchise, Harry Potter, actor Daniel Radcliffe is now interested in joining the DC Universe. During a Q&A session with Buzzfeed (thanks to Digital Spy for the transcription), he namedropped a reboot Batman series as another franchise he would like to be a part of. “[I’d love to be in] Batman. If they reboot that again, I’ll do that too.” As for which character, however? After acknowledging that Ben Affleck is playing a relaunched version of the Dark Knight, Radcliffe suggests that he would be “perfect” for the role of Robin. “It’s happening, isn’t it? With Ben Affleck. I could be Robin, I’m perfect.”

Dick Grayson is rumored to be making a minor appearance in 2016’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, but he is expected to be Nightwing by this point, given the older Caped Crusader. However, with WB reportedly planning on giving Affleck his own inevitable Batman film in 2019, a version of Robin can be introduced then.

As for Radcliffe, casting him as a DC character makes sense business-wise. As aforementioned, he was the star of the highest grossing franchise of all time, making a total $7.7B worldwide. Understandably, WB is very fond of that particular series, so utilizing Radcliffe’s star power for a key DC Universe role is logical. Robin or Nightwing is also an obvious choice, given Radcliffe’s physical similarities to the character(s). But will he actually be cast? Only time will tell.
