ARROW Casts J.R. Ramirez As Wildcat For Season 3 Recurring Role; Kelly Frye To Play Plastique On THE FLASH
A couple of casting announcements for both Arrow‘s third season and The Flash spin-off have been made today. First up, according to Deadline, Power‘s J.R. Ramirez is set to play Ted Grant, aka Wildcat. Described as a recurring role, Wildcat is known in the comics for training a number of characters, including Black Canary. On Arrow, Grant is “a former boxer who now runs a gym for underprivileged youth. A man with a mysterious past, he will play a pivotal role in Laurel Lance’s arc this season.” It’s safe to assume that Laurel will make significant process in her transition to Black Canary this season. Arrow returns to The CW on October 8th.
In other news, we now have another superpowered addition to The Flash. According to E! Online, The Mentalist actor Kelly Frye has been cast as Bette Sans Souci, better known as Plastique. In the Arrowverse, the character is “A bomb disposal expert in Iraq who, following exposure to the energy released by the S.T.A.R. Labs meltdown, now has the ability to turn any object she touches into an explosive device. On the run from the shadow forces in the U.S. government trying to turn her into a human weapon, she finds an ally in fellow meta-human The Flash.” Plastique makes her debut on the series in the fifth episode. The Flash premieres on October 7th.
