Amy Adams Talks Lois Lane’s Role In BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE; Possible New Superman-Centric Details
While Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will debut a number of iconic DC characters – including Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Lex Luthor – Amy Adams’ Lois Lane will still be present in the superhero ensemble, following her key role in Man of Steel. Speaking with Collider, the Oscar nominated actress affirms that she will still be very present in Batman v Superman‘s storyline. “Lois is still sort of like the key to the information, you know? She’s the girl going out and getting it and figuring it out and putting it together and all of that, so she’s very much involved, but I kind of leave the heavy lifting to the boys, you know? So to speak.”
She then had this to say about standing alongside the Justice League actors, including Jason Momoa (Aquaman) and Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman). “They’re awesome together. It’s kind of like this big fest of muscles … it was really kind of nice. And then you add Jason Momoa and Gal Gadot and I felt very short and, yeah.” While it’s possible Adams could be referring to meeting Momoa and Gadot on set, perhaps she’s also suggesting that Lois shares scenes with Arthur Curry and/or Diana Prince? Maybe, maybe not.
In other Batman v Superman news, Badass Digest* is back with some new story details, this time for Henry Cavill’s Superman. After a slew of scoops related to Ben Affleck’s Batman, it’s refreshing to see that the Man of Steel is still the star of the next DC movie. The following does contain some potential spoilers, so read at your own risk.
So the beginning of Dawn of Justice deals with Batman’s tragic origin – which has been glimpsed during production – and Bruce Wayne’s visit to Metropolis during Superman’s battle with General Zod. From there, however, the story focuses heavily on Clark Kent, who is advancing through his relationship with Lois and his work at the Daily Planet. Concerning the latter, Clark would rather write about Batman, but he is instead covering a Gotham/Metropolis football game. The script also deals with the reactions to Superman’s existence from international countries, such as China.
The script – which was apparently a draft turned in a month before production began, so this info may not be 100% accurate – additionally features responses to criticisms regarding Man of Steel, such as Superman killing Zod. While the Man of Steel may be struggling with “losing his cool” during battle, he is seeking to learn how to subdue enemies without breaking their necks. Also, during the battle with the film’s secondary villain, Doomsday, General Swanwick – now a supporter of Superman – assures the military that the Man of Steel will move the battle away from populated areas. In fact, just about everyone is a fan of Superman in Dawn of Justice. The two major exceptions are Batman – who is apparently developing “anti-Superman weapons” – and, of course, Lex Luthor.
