Viola Davis Reportedly Cast As Amanda Waller In SUICIDE SQUAD
Warner Bros. recently announced its all-star cast for the DC Comics adaptation Suicide Squad. The supervillain team film will star Will Smith as Deadshot, Tom Hardy as Rick Flagg, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, and Jared Leto as The Joker. However, the key role of Amanda Waller has yet to be announced. We previously heard that Oprah Winfrey was the studio’s top choice for the part, with Octavia Spencer and Viola Davis also in consideration. And now, it looks like the role could be Davis’.
According to Latino-Review, Davis will likely play Amanda Waller in Suicide Squad. However, one potential hurdle with her casting is working with her television schedule, due to the success of the series How to Get Away With Murder. It’s possible that the actress may be unable to make the time to play Waller, who is the woman who forms the Squad. Otherwise, however, the role is hers. Hopefully, negotiations will pan out, as this is yet another inspired casting choice.
Stay tuned for more news as we have it. With production beginning next spring, Suicide Squad is set to hit theaters August 5th, 2016.
