NBC Brass Discuss the Future of CONSTANTINE

As Constantine
gears up for the second half of season one tonight, the decision makers at NBC are
keeping a close on the series.  The show
has not had the type of success that the other DC-Based television series have
had this year, Constantine is on a
network that has higher expectations that Fox or the CW and the time-slot they
premiered in is generally not a successful one.
When NBC declined to pick up the remaining nine episodes
they had an option for then moved the show from Fridays at ten to Fridays at
eight during the mid-season break many fans feared the worst however the
producers were quick to point out that NBC has not canceled the show.    In an
interview with IGN, NBC President, Jennifer Salke told IGN that no decision has
been made.  “We wish the show had done better live. It has a big viewership after
[it airs] in all kinds of ways and it has a younger audience, but the live
number is challenging. It hasn’t come out in the way we wanted it to, but we
love the show. I think it’s fair to say we’re still talking about it.
NBC Chairman, Robert Greenblatt also had positive things to
say about the show: “It’s a show we
really like. We love Matt Ryan, who’s the star of it.
”  He backed up Salke, saying “The future is still up in the air for that
show.
Constantine got
off to a slow start in the ratings but as we reported here, the show came on
strong in the final for weeks.  It has also
had a lot of success streaming and with encore broadcasts on Syfy.  The best things fans can do to save Constantine right now is to keep
watching and convince their friends to do the same.
