TNT’s TITANS Pilot Reportedly Gets a New Title; Production to Begin This Summer

It was announced last year that TNT was developing the pilot Titans, which is based on DC Comics’ Teen Titans. Since then, little else has been revealed. Geoff Johns said that the pilot would be filmed this year, while the lineup reportedly consists of Dick Grayson, Starfire, Raven, Hawk and Dove and Barbara Gordon. Otherwise, we haven’t heard anything…until now.

According to Season Zero, the Titans pilot/potential series has a new name: Blackbirds. This is arguably a step down from the original title. But could this just be a working title, rather than the name that the final product will go with? Possibly.

Season Zero also says that production is expected to begin in Toronto this summer, with casting announcements imminent. TNT is holding its upfronts panel on May 13th, so we’ll likely get an update there.

It is also being speculated that Colton Haynes’ Roy Harper, who was written out of Arrow recently, could join the Titans Blackbirds series. If that show is in continuity with The CW-verse, then having Harper join the team would be ideal. But we’ll have to wait and see about that.

Stay tuned for more news as we have it.
