The CW’s digital spin-off, The CW Seed, is releasing a Vixen animated series this summer. Set in the world of Arrow and The Flash, the show is an origin tale for Mari McCabe, a fan-favorite character from DC Comics lore. The Arrow, Flash, Felicity Smoak and Cisco Ramon are all set to appear in Vixen, with their live action actors reprising their respective roles. And now, we know who is voicing the titular superheroine.
TV Guide (via Vixen Varsity) has confirmed that CSI actress Megalyn Echikunwoke will star as Vixen in the animated series. If that show is a success, don’t be surprised if she reprises the role in live action on Arrow, The Flash and/or DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.
In the TV Guide issue, executive producer Marc Guggenheim calls Vixen a “coming of age story.” The six-episode series will essentially tell a 30 minute origin story. He then reaffirms that Vixen opens up the corner of magic in this universe, which began with the grounded reality of Arrow.
