FEATURE: Top 10 Moments From SUPERGIRL Season One

Supergirl season one has come to a close, and now the wait for a second season has started. With the show being away for the next few months; now is the time to reflect on the it’s rookie season. In this article we’re going to be taking a look at the top 10 moments from Supergirl season one! Spoilers from here on out, so don’t say I didn’t warn you.

10. Cat Learns Supergirl’s Identity
Taking the tenth spot on our list is a series of moments from the fall finale and the two following episodes. Here Cat Grant was able to figure out Supergirl’s identity. It’s not easy trying to fool the queen of all media, but with the help of J’onn J’ozz, Kara was able to have Supergirl in the same room – throwing Cat off her trail – for now. This was a great character moment, and a fun little arc for Kara and Cat. It was also nice that they addressed the fact that Cat knows both Kara and Supergirl, but doesn’t know they’re the same person. It was also funny seeing J’onn cosplay as Supergirl. They teased us with Cat learning the truth, but I guess that’s a story for another day.

9. Supergirl Saves The Plane
In the pilot episode Kara isn’t sure whether or not she should use her powers. When a plane is about to crash, and her sister Alex onboard, Kara knew what needed to be done. Without hesitation Kara flew out to save the falling plan – saving tons of lives. What makes this moment so great is the fact that Kara had the heart for good. She didn’t question if she should let everyone die to keep her identity secret. She followed in her cousins footsteps and saved the day – becoming Supergirl.

8. Kara Reunites Cat With Her Son
Coming in at number eight is a touching moment between Cat, Kara, and Cat’s son Adam. Cat has not spoken to her oldest son in years, and has no connection to him whatsoever. Kara takes it upon herself to reach out to Adam and try to reunite him with his mother. It was a bit of a challenge, but it was nothing Kara couldn’t handle. In the end we have Cat and Adam trying to have the Mother/Son relationship they both desperately needed. It was nice to see emotion from Cat and having Kara save the day without the cape was a nice change. Bringing in Melissa Benoist’s real-life husband (Blake Jenner) for the role of Adam was also a nice touch.

7. Bizzaro
Bizzaro was something that the show was building towards for a number of episodes. Our lovable frenemy Maxwell Lord created this monster to destroy the Girl of Steel. We first think that this is just a mindless clone, but later we learn that this was a regular woman that was turned into the ultimate kryptonian devil. Kara’s willingness to save Bizzaro’s life was one of her most heroic moments of the season. It showed the compassion Kara has, and even though Bizzaro was a monster Kara did the right thing. That’s what makes her a true hero.

6. Darth Kara
In episode sixteen Kara is effected by Red Kryptonite. This turns her into a raging monster – creating what I like to call Darth Kara. Seeing Supergirl turn to the darkside was a great change of pace. She’s always a goody two-shoes that would never hurt a fly. We see a version of Kara that I wish we’d see more of, and hopefully they play around with this again. I mean, she threw Cat out of a window for god sake! In this one episode Kara became someone else – she became something else.

5. The Girl Who Has Everything
For The Girl Who Has Everything is probably my favorite episode of the season. This was a wonderful adaptation of the Superman comic For The Man Who Has Everything. We get a look at what Kara’s life would be like if Krypton was never destroyed. This is also the only time we see Kal-El’s face. With Kara under the control of the Black mercy –  we have Alex trying to bring her sister back to reality. It was a great episode, and it deserves to be on this list – even if it isn’t specific a moment.

4. Mars Flashbacks
At number four we have the Mars flashbacks. In episode eleven, J’onn goes into detail on what happened to his home world, Mars. We see what happens to his family, and how he deals with his loss. It was a great look into his past, and we see why he views Alex and Kara as daughters. It was sad seeing his world destroyed by the White Martians, but it was done so well, and you felt his pain.

3.  Alex kills Astra
This was one of the biggest surprises of the season. We have the villain many perceived to be the main antagonist of the season, and the writers said nope! In a shocking twist, Astra died at the hand of Alex! Saving Hank’s life she stabbed Astra with a kryptonite sword, and it was all over. This was huge shock, and it was a great twist. It gave characters like Non a chance to be in the spotlight, and allowed Indigo to come on the scene. It also gave J’onn and Alex a nice side story later on. Having someone that wasn’t Supergirl kill Astra was a gutsy move, and it paid off.

2. The Blur AKA The Flash
At number two we have The World’s Finest – The Flash and Supergirl. This team-up never seemed possible, but The Flash managed a to make his to National City. Grant Gustin and Melissa Beniost had incredible chemistry, and it was a fun crossover. Hopefully we get another crossover next season, and maybe make it a two part special like the Arrow/Flash crossovers.

1. Martian Manhunter Reveal
My name is J’onn J’ozz; those are words fans will never forget. In the episode Human For A Day, Hank Henshaw revealed his true identity to Alex Danvers – making all of the fandoms jaw’s drop. This moment changed the series, it gave it that needed boost early on – and the show never looked back. They took an somewhat unlikeable character in Hank Henshaw, and turned him into a fan favorite. This is without a doubt the number one moment of the season, and will probably be one of the top moments of the series.

Honorable mentions: Martian Manhunter and Supergirl vs. the White Martian, James’ and Kara’s awkward kiss, and Supergirl vs. Astra.
