Rumor: THE FLASH Movie Looking to Cast These Five Characters

Warner Bros.’ Justice League began production recently, but it looks like pre-production is already underway for the following DC film, The Flash. Ezra Miller stars as the Scarlet Speedster, with Seth Grahame-Smith writing and directing the movie. Now, a new rumor may reveal some of the supporting characters that will appear.

Heroic Hollywood has acquired descriptions of five characters that The Flash is currently seeking to cast. Three of these characters are allies to Barry Allen, while the other two are enemies of the Flash. Of course, some of these details are subject to change, so take it with a pinch of salt. But for now, here are the five character descriptions.

  • First up, we have Iris West, Barry Allen’s most frequent love interest. Since she’s such a key part of the Flash mythos, it shouldn’t be any surprise that she’s in the movie. Actresses are currently testing for this role, described as “…having Christiane Amanpour’s brains and Carrie Bradshaw’s style. An overcaffinated doe.” In the film, Iris is a reporter for The Central City Citizen, the main newspaper of Central City.
  • Next, there is Eobard Thawne, who is best known as Reverse-Flash/Professor Zoom, aka Flash’s arch nemesis. Compared to Bill Gates, Thawne is described as “The smartest man in the room and he suffers from advanced degenerative disease like Stephen Hawking. Thawne is confined to a chair.” This sounds a lot like the television show’s depiction of the character. On the series, Thawne – disguised as Harrison Wells – becomes the head of S.T.A.R. Labs and is responsible for the Particle Accelerator accident, which leads to Barry gaining his powers. As Dr. Wells, Thawne pretends to be confined to a wheelchair.
  • The third name on the list is Fred Chyre, a “gruff” detective who becomes a close colleague of Barry’s. In the film, Chyre is investigating an “unusual” death at Thawne Laboratories.
  • It looks like Eobard Thawne isn’t the only iconic Flash villain to appear in the movie, as the breakdown also includes Len Snart, aka Captain Cold. Here, Snart is ex-military, and he is working for Thawne. The Captain Cold character was also a part of The CW’s The Flash, played by Wentworth Miller. He is currently co-starring on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.
  • And finally, it appears that The Flash movie is casting none other than Jay Garrick, who in the comics is the original Flash. The breakdown describes Jay as a former professor at Central University. He was fired for fringe science, and he was working on a “speed force program.” Apparently, Jay only has a cameo in this movie.
So, those are the character breakdowns going around right now. Currently, the only role that is testing actors is Iris West. We should hear some official news in the next few months. Stay tuned.
The Flash is set to hit theaters on March 16th, 2018.
