Rumor: Warner Bros. Considering Several More SUICIDE SQUAD Spin-Off Movies

So far, all signs are pointing to Suicide Squad being a big hit for Warner Bros. and DC Films. The trailers have created strong positive buzz, the film boasts a stellar cast, and it looks to be a unique entry in the comic book movie genre. In fact, a sequel is already in the works, while Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn is expected to star in a DC female ensemble film.

But if a new rumor is to be believed, we may be seeing plenty more of these characters in the future. According to We Got This Covered, Warner Bros. is considering spin-off films for several Suicide Squad characters, in addition to the Harley Quinn-centric movie. The studio is said to be “very confident” in the film and its potential success.

But which characters could go on to star in their own movies? One “definite possibility” is The Joker, with star Jared Leto reportedly interested. The studio also likes the idea of Jai Courtney’s Boomerang getting his own film. (Personally, I’m hoping that Will Smith’s Deadshot will get a spin-off as well.)

So, it looks like we’ll be seeing a lot of the Suicide Squad going forward, assuming that the film is a success. Even if solo spin-offs don’t happen, there is potential for these characters to pop up in other DC films. For example, Boomerang could pop up in The Flash, Enchantress can appear in Justice League Dark, and Joker is expected appear in Ben Affleck’s Batman movie. Stay tuned for more news as we have it.

Suicide Squad is scheduled to hit theaters August 5th. The third installment in the DC Extended Universe stars Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman, Cara Delevingne, Viola Davis, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Adam Beach, Jay Hernandez and Karen Fukahara. David Ayer writes and directs.
