DC TV Casting Bits: Artemis on ARROW, Vicki Vale’s Aunt on GOTHAM, LUCIFER’s Mother

Last season on Arrow, teenager Evelyn Sharp briefly attempted to become the new Black Canary after Laurel’s death. Now, she will return in season five, and not only will she have a bigger role, she will become a new vigilante.

According to Variety, Evelyn will take on the mantle of Artemis on Arrow next season. She will first appear in episode two of season five, and she will be in several episodes afterwards.

In the comics, Artemis was originally Artemis Crock, one of the characters to assume the identity of Tigress. However, the animated series Young Justice re-introduced her as simply Artemis, a sidekick of Green Arrow’s. It sounds like Arrow will take more influence from the Young Justice iteration.

Next, we have some casting news for Gotham‘s third season. It was previously reported that casting was underway for Vicki Vale, one of Batman’s most well-known love interests. However, an update adds a twist to that.

According to TV Line, Once Upon a Time alum Jamie Chung will play Valerie Vale, Vicki’s aunt and the latest hire of Gotham Gazette. She will recur throughout Gotham season three.

Valerie is described as “…a crackerjack reporter dead set on uncovering the truth behind Indian Hill. Confident and dogged, she will do anything to get the scoop, and soon sets her sights on Gordon, who she believes is the key lead in her story.”

Finally, we have some news for the second season of Lucifer. TV Line has learned that Battlestar Galactica actress Tricia Helfer will play Charlotte, the mother of the titular character. She will appear in multiple episodes next season.

Here is the official description for the character: “Trapped in Hell for thousands of years by God (her ex-husband), the Mother of Angels is now free on Earth. Once reunited with Lucifer, it will become clear that she’s the one he takes after. Mom is fearless and has a strong conviction for who she is and what she deserves. However, mother and son do not share the same opinion when it comes to humanity. Everything that fascinates Lucifer about people repels Mom – a disdain that’s highlighted by that fact that Mom’s trapped in a human body for her stay on Earth. Lucifer’s desperate to find out what Mom’s up to, but she claims that all she wants is to spend time with her sons again. But can the devil’s mom really be that innocent?”

Gotham and Lucifer will return to Fox on Monday, September 19th at 8 and 9 PM EST, respectively. Arrow returns to The CW on Wednesday, October 5th at 8 PM EST.
