SUPERGIRL Casts Snapper Carr for Season 2; Tyler Hoechlin Talks Playing Superman

Today, we have some news tidbits for Supergirl‘s second season. First off, according to Entertainment Weekly, Cougar Town actor Ian Gomez will play DC Comics character Snapper Carr. He will make his first appearance in episode two of the new season.

On Supergirl, Carr is a “headstrong” newsman hired by Cat Grant as the editor-in-chief of CatCo Magazine. In this position, Carr pushes CatCo’s reporters to pursue excellence and dig deeper into their stories. Carr is also described as “…a man who tells people what he thinks of them, and his no-holds barred approach pushes Kara in unexpected ways.”

Supergirl will mark the live action debut of Snapper Carr. Outside of the comics, he previously appeared on animated shows Justice League Unlimited and Young Justice.

In other Supergirl news, Tyler Hoechlin spoke with Collider about playing Superman. He affirms that portraying the Man of Steel is “incredibly humbling and flattering,” and he has this to say about interacting with Superman fans. “The interesting thing to me is meeting people who are much older than me and saying, ‘Oh Superman has always been my hero’ and shaking my hand, it’s such a weird position to be in because you’re not just assuming that this is a character for a younger generation, it’s for anyone who’s a fan of the character.” He also expresses his excitement over creating this particular version of Superman and fitting him into the world of Supergirl.

So, how did Hoechlin land this coveted role? He recalls meeting with producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg, saying, “…I didn’t know what the meeting was for originally and it kind of came up and they said, ‘Is this something you would like to talk about?’ and I was like, ‘Yeah, sure, let’s talk about it.’ And I think we had similar views in what makes the character interesting and fascinating, and it just kind of worked out.”
