SUICIDE SQUAD: THE ALBUM Debuts at #1 on Billboard 200
DC Films’ Suicide Squad has been making a lot of money at the box office. The supervillain ensemble is expected to cross $500 million worldwide sometime this week, and it has been the #1 movie in North America for two weeks in a row. But the film’s soundtrack is also a big success.
Billboard has announced that Suicide Squad: The Album has debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. The soundtrack was released on August 5th, and in the week ending on the 11th, the album has sold a whopping 182,000 copies. 128,000 of those copies are from traditional album sales. The soundtrack is also #1 on the Top Album Sales Chart.
Suicide Squad: The Album is the first soundtrack in a year to top the Billboard 200. The soundtracks for Pitch Perfect 2 and Disney Channel’s Descendants topped the chart last year. Additionally, Suicide Squad has the biggest debut sales week for a soundtrack since Fifty Shades of Grey (210,000).
Billboard will post its complete 200 chart on Tuesday.
Suicide Squad: The Album contains songs by Panic! At the Disco, twenty one pilots, Rick Ross/Skrillex, Eminem and many more artists. You can pick up your copy in stores now.
