SUICIDE SQUAD Hits $600 Million Worldwide Ahead of Weekend #4
Suicide Squad is entering its fourth weekend of release. After three weeks at the top spot, the DC film is expected to go down to #2, as horror thriller Don’t Breathe is on track to open with #1. Squad is tracking for a $10-12 million gross this weekend. But now, the movie has surpassed yet another milestone.
Writer-director David Ayer announced on Twitter last night that Suicide Squad has hit $600 million worldwide. It had passed $500 million just last week. For a critically panned film starring lesser known comic book characters, $600 million+ is an impressive number.
Warner Bros. reportedly spent $325 million to both produce and market Suicide Squad, so to break even, its final worldwide gross has to be around $650 million. And if the film keeps doing well over the next couple weeks, it will most likely hit that number.
