Box Office Updates for SUICIDE SQUAD, Weekend #8

Suicide Squad is now in its eighth weekend of release, and the DC supervillain ensemble continues to impress. The film is still in the top ten movies of the week – a record matched only by Deadpool for this year’s comic book movies – and it has maintained strong legs throughout its theatrical run. How did it do this weekend?

According to Box Office Mojo, Suicide Squad grossed an estimated $3.1 million this weekend. This brings its domestic total to $318.1 million, and it’s about to surpass 2008’s Iron Man at the North American box office.

Overseas, Suicide Squad has currently grossed $413.6 million. Its worldwide total is presently at a whopping $731.7 million. The film is now the fifteenth highest grossing comic book movie of all time worldwide.

Again, these numbers make Suicide Squad an indisputable box office hit for Warner Bros. It’s all the more impressive considering lowered expectations, following overly negative reviews from critics a big second weekend drop, and the lack of a China release. However, the movie greatly exceeded those expectations and became one of the biggest movies of the year. Fingers crossed that the sequel and/or Harley Quinn spin-off is announced soon.

Stay tuned for more box office updates as we have them.
