CONFIRMED: General Zod is Coming to SUPERGIRL

We only have a few episodes left for Supergirl this season, as the finale airs May 22nd on The CW. (Don’t worry, the show has already been renewed for season three.) The season two finale will see the returns of both Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman and Calista Flockhart’s Cat Grant. Now, rumor has it that we’ll be seeing one of Superman’s greatest foes make his debut.

According to Bleeding Cool, actor Mark Gibbon is currently shooting scenes for Supergirl as none other than General Zod. Of course, Zod is a key player in the Man of Steel’s rogues gallery, so it would make sense to bring him in to Earth-38 at some point.

Gibbon has done a lot of geek-friendly movies and shows in the past. His credits include Man of Steel, Arrow, Smallville, and more. He has also worked on multiple Marvel cartoons, such as Iron Man: Armored Adventures and Spider-Man Unlimited.

As for Zod, Supergirl marks the character’s latest live action appearances. He was played by Terrence Stamp in Richard Donner’s two Superman movies, while Callum Blue played the character on Smallville. Most recently, Zod was portrayed by Michael Shannon in Man of Steel, and his corpse was transformed into Doomsday by Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Of course, this is just a rumor right now. But if it’s true, we should hear some sort of official confirmation soon. Stay tuned.

UPDATE: ComicBook has confirmed with Warner Bros. Television that Gibbon is indeed playing General Zod. He will appear in the Supergirl season finale. Additional details on the villain’s role are under wraps.
