FEATURE: Five DC Funko Pop! Lines We Want to See

Over the years, Funko has produced countless products based on DC Comics properties. The toy company has covered everything from film and television to video games and animation – primarily through the Pop! Vinyl line. This particular line is easily Funko’s most recognizable product, and the DC brand has been a consistent presence.

Where could Funko and DC go next, though? There are still a lot of DC films, games and TV shows that haven’t gotten the Pop! treatment yet. Below, we’ve compiled a list of five DC-centric Funko Pop! lines we’d like to see.

Supergirl
Funko has produced Pop! figures for many of DC’s current television shows, including Arrow, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Gotham and even iZombie. However, Supergirl has yet to get any Funko products – save for that Rock Candy figure in Legion of Collectors’ DC TV box. But with the show being a success and a second season premiering next month, now is the time.
Which Supergirl characters should get the Pop! treatment? Kara herself is obviously required, but they could also create a figure based on her civilian Kara Danvers appearance. Martian Manhunter would be great too, while other options include fan-favorite characters Alex, James and Cat Grant. (And why not Superman too?)
As a new member of the DC TV family, it’s only inevitable that Funko tackles Supergirl sooner or later.
Injustice: Gods Among Us
Back in 2013, NetherRealm Studios released the fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us, which allows players to pit DC’s biggest heroes and villains against each other. The story follows an alternate reality where a grief-stricken Superman went rogue, and an all-out war between him and Batman ensued. The game spawned a comic book series, while a sequel game, Injustice 2, will be released next year.
To cash in on the game’s success, it would make sense for Funko to create Pop! figures based on Injustice. The company has prior DC video game experience with the Batman: Arkham Asylum and Arkham Knight Pops!. Which Injustice characters would make the cut? Well, the game has countless DC characters who can be considered. My idea for a first wave would be Superman, Batman, Harley Quinn, Wonder Woman and Flash.
If Funko was to make more collectibles based on DC video games, then Injustice is the obvious next choice.
Batman Begins
Funko previously created Pop! figures based on The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises. Batman, Catwoman, Joker, Bane and even one of Joker’s bank robbers were all brought to Pop! form a few years ago. However, Batman Begins, the first part of the trilogy, is sorely absent.
Batman’s suit from this movie would look good as a Pop! figure, while I’d love to see figures of villains Ra’s al Ghul and Scarecrow. They could even do a Bruce Wayne variant. (Also, while this one is for The Dark Knight rather than Batman Begins, a Pop! figure of Two-Face would be great.)
Batman Begins is the one movie from The Dark Knight Trilogy that hasn’t been tackled by Funko yet. Fingers crossed this will be rectified someday.
Justice League/Justice League Unlimited
The Justice League and Justice League Unlimited animated shows are some of DC’s most acclaimed animated work to date. They served as my introduction to the DC Universe as a kid. And I would love to collect some Funko Pop! figures based on this iteration of the League.
All seven of the original JL members – Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Hawkgirl and Martian Manhunter – would be needed for this line. Other possible heroes include Aquaman and Green Arrow. As for the villains, potential options include Darkseid, Brainiac and Vandal Savage.
Both Justice League and Justice League Unlimited featured countless DC heroes and villains, so if Funko was to take on this property, there would be plenty to choose from.

Tim Burton’s Batman
In case you couldn’t tell, Funko loves to create Batman Pop! figures, based on both the comics and other media. Countless variants of the Caped Crusader have been produced over the years. However, one iteration of Batman who still hasn’t gotten this treatment is Michael Keaton’s.
Keaton played Batman in the 1989 film and 1992’s Batman Returns, both directed by Tim Burton. A Funko Pop! line based on these movies would theoretically include Batman, Joker, Penguin and Catwoman. Funko even created a Dorbz three-set based on Batman Returns exclusively for San Diego Comic-Con this year, so a Pop! line isn’t completely out of the question.
Funko previously brought Adam West, Christian Bale and Ben Affleck’s Batmen to Pop! form. So why not Keaton?
