Animated DEADPOOL Show Ordered To Series At FXX
Donald Glover (Atlanta, Spider-Man: Homecoming) and FX (Legion) are teaming up with Marvel to bring an animated Deadpool series to FXX. According to THR, the series will be 10 episodes long, it will be an adult cartoon (think Archer), and will launch in 2018. Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory will be joining Donald and his brother Stephen Glover as executive producers.
FX president of original programming Nick Grad said: “Donald Glover is an incredibly gifted and versatile artist who’ll bring the untitled Marvel’s Deadpool series to life with the same intense, singular vision as his breakout hit Atlanta. Grad went on to say: “With the success of Legion, we’re looking forward to again partnering with Marvel Television to create a series that is bold, striking and entirely original.”
Loeb added: “How much more fun could this be? Deadpool, Donald and FX — the perfect fit for the Merc with the Mouth! We’re thrilled that our relationship with FX that started with Legion continues with what is sure to be a groundbreaking show in adult animation.”
Deadpool is one of the most popular comic characters out there, so it makes sense for a network to jump at the chance for a series. Adding a great talent like Donald Glover to the mix, and you truly have something special. We will have a Deadpool animated series and live action movie in 2018 (Deadpool 2), can the world handle that much of awesomeness? We can’t wait to find out!
