BLACK PANTHER Becomes the Biggest Superhero Movie of All Time in North America
Marvel Studios’ Black Panther has become an absolute sensation, breaking record after record at the box office. Today, it has taken a new throne.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Black Panther has today surpassed The Avengers ($623.4 million) as the highest grossing superhero film of all time in North America. It is also one of just seven films to ever pass $600 million domestically. T’Challa’s movie was always expected to be a hit, but moreso than Earth’s Mightiest Heroes? Who could have predicted that?
To date, Black Panther is at $1.2 billion worldwide, and it will pass Iron Man 3 this weekend. After that, it’ll be the third highest grossing superhero movie worldwide, behind just the two Avengers films. This weekend, the film will take the #2 spot after a whopping five weeks at #1. Pacific Rim: Uprising will take over.
