SUPERGIRL Casts Odette Annable as Reign, the Big Bad of Season 3

At the end of the Supergirl season two finale, the main villain for season three was teased. The character, who was unnamed in the finale, was sent from Krypton as an infant at the same time Kara and Kal-El were. The last line of dialogue, “It will reign,” led to speculation that the character could be Reign, a recent villain in Supergirl comics. Now, it’s confirmed.

It has been announced that Cloverfield actress Odette Annable will play Reign, the main villain of Supergirl‘s third season. In the comics, Reign “…was one of five ‘Worldkillers’ who were aliens that were captured and experimented on by Kryptonian scientists in an attempt to turn them into powerful weapons. After they awoke and found their captors dead and Krypton destroyed, Reign and three of the other Worldkillers attempted to find their home worlds, but instead wound up on Earth.”

Supergirl‘s producers confirm that an “interpretation” of this storyline will be on the show. Andrew Kreisberg says this about Annable’s casting. “Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Odette for years. We are beyond excited to have her join our cast in the scary, powerful and heartbreaking role of Reign.”
