SHAZAM! Is The Next DC Film
The DCEU train keeps on going. The next DC property on their film slate is Shazam! The film is about a boy named Billy Batson, who gets superpowers from a wizard; leading to Billy becoming Captain Marvel (now known as Shazam). The news is coming from The Hollywood Reporter, and the film will reportedly start shooting January 2018.
Director David Sandberg (Annabelle), will be helming the project, and Peter Safran (Aquaman) will likely produce. The film will be set in the DC Extended Universe, and will likely crossover with the other Justice League characters in future movies. Dwayne Johnson (Black Adam) will not be apart of the project. He is still attached to star and produce the solo Black Adam film.
Warner Bros. is gearing up for the next wave of DC movies. After the gigantic success of Wonder Woman, WB is all in with their DC properties. They recently added two films to their 2020 schedule, as well as announced new projects: Batgirl, Suicide Squad 2, Gotham City Sirens, and Nightwing.
We don’t have any casting announcements as of yet, but they should be coming fairly soon. For all news on the DC Extended Universe, stay tuned.
