Hawkeye Will Reportedly Take on a New Persona in AVENGERS 4
As a founding member of the Avengers, Clint Barton/Hawkeye has played a key supporting role in multiple Marvel movies. When we last saw him in Captain America: Civil War, Barton was imprisoned alongside several of his teammates, only to be broken out by Steve Rogers. Now, we may have some new details on his role in Avengers: Infinity War and its untitled follow-up.
So, according to MCU Exchange, Clint Barton will abandon the Hawkeye persona and assume the name of Ronin in Avengers 4. Ronin is one of multiple aliases taken by Barton in the comics, and it saw him wear a mask and wield samurai swords instead of his usual bow-and-arrow.
It’s unknown how much of the comic version will translate into the movies. But apparently, the events of Avengers: Infinity War (or at least one specific incident) will leave Barton in a “very dark” place, and it results in him taking on this new persona.
MCU Exchange cautions that this could be subject to change, due to the movie being nearly two years away from release. However, if true, this marks a very interesting direction for Barton.
Stay tuned for more as we have it.
