Marvel Studios has had a wildly successful year, with its first two films grossing well over $800 million apiece at the worldwide box office. Its third title of the year, Thor: Ragnarok, is no exception.
Per Variety, the critically acclaimed sequel is expected to surpass $800 million sometime today. This success pushes Disney past the $5 billion mark for the third year in a row. Ragnarok is the seventh Marvel title to crack $800 million, and it is easily the biggest Thor movie so far.
Ragnarok is currently the eighth highest grossing movie of 2017 worldwide, and the sixth highest domestically. That’s only going to go higher as its run continues.
