Last week, it was reported that Kristen Wiig was in talks to play the villainous Cheetah in DC’s Wonder Woman sequel, which will begin production this summer. Now, a deal has been closed.
Director Patty Jenkins has confirmed on Twitter that Wiig has joined the cast of the hotly anticipated sequel. Gal Gadot will reprise her role as the titular hero, while several characters from the first film are rumored to return. With production a couple months away, we should expect more casting news soon. Stay tuned.
So excited to confirm the most thrilling news. Yes! It’s true! So incredibly lucky to welcome the sensationally talented Kristen Wiig to our Wonder Woman family. Can’t wait to finally work with one of my favorites. And SO excited by what we have planned. #Cheetah!!! @GalGadot pic.twitter.com/Gn0jICiIAH
