BLACK PANTHER Receives Best Picture Drama Nomination at the Golden Globes

Marvel Studios has been pushing an awards campaign for Black Panther, which has the rare legitimate shot of receiving big nominations at the Academy Awards and other ceremonies. The campaign has received a major victory, as the 2019 Golden Globes nominations have been announced.

Black Panther has been nominated for the Best Motion Picture – Drama award. This is the first superhero movie in history to ever get a nod in that category. It is also the second superhero film to get any sort of Best Motion Picture nomination; Deadpool was up in the Musical or Comedy category in 2017.

Black Panther also received a couple other nominations. Ludwig Göransson’s score is up for Best Original Score, while “All the Stars” by Kendrick Lamar and SZA is contending for Best Original Song. As for other movies, both Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Incredibles 2 are up for the Best Motion Picture – Animated award.
