Fox Developing DOCTOR DOOM Movie from LEGION Creator Noah Hawley

Ever since the colossal failure of 2015’s Fant4stic, fans have been wondering what will happen with the Fantastic Four franchise next. Will Fox give the property another go, or will Marvel manage to regain the rights? Now, it’s confirmed that Fox is reviving the franchise, but not in the way you may expect.

At San Diego Comic-Con last night, Legion creator/showrunner Noah Hawley reveals that he is working on a new movie for Fox. “Two words: Doctor. Doom.” The Hollywood Reporter says that Hawley is developing the Doctor Doom movie with an eye to direct.

The trade adds that Fox has been looking at different ways to revive the Fantastic Four series, and another straight-up F4 movie wouldn’t have worked. Thus, we have Doctor Doom, plus the rumored spinoff starring Franklin and Valeria Richards.

Of course, Doctor Doom is the main antagonist of the Fantastic Four, and in the comics, he’s one of Marvel’s greatest villains. He’s been in all three of the Fantastic Four movies; he was played by Julian McMahon in the first two, while Toby Kebbell portrayed him in Fant4stic. However, none of the film versions truly captured the greatness of Doom as seen in the comics. Hopefully, with a solo movie, they can make the character work. Especially if they give complete creative control to Hawley, who has done wonders with Legion.
