BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN News Bits: Filming In Illinois, Doomsday Rumor Resurfaces, Vin Diesel Praises Wonder Woman Casting

A few news/rumor pieces for Batman vs. Superman have found their way online. First up, VPF News (via Man of Steel Fanpage) has confirmed that the upcoming superhero film will shoot scenes in Yorkville, IL. Previous images revealed that the Kent Farm, which was attacked by General Zod in Man of Steel, is being rebuilt for the follow-up. VPF News says that a film with the working title “Sage & Milo” will undergo production in the area through February, confirming prior reports of Batman vs. Superman‘s using that name. Henry Cavill (Clark Kent/Superman) and Diane Lane (Martha Kent) are said to be the actors filming these scenes.

Recent reports have stated that Batman vs. Superman will feature two villains, both from Superman lore. Lex Luthor is a given, with the likes of Bryan Cranston and Joaquin Phoenix rumored for the role. But the second? Doomsday has been a frequently mentioned name by those in the know, as well as Metallo. According to Warner Bros. producer Daniel Alter, who has been dropping tidbits of news for this movie, the former will be the second villain. In response to the Cranston as Lex rumor, he says, “Cranston’s name popped up way back/don’t know whats happening. More than 1 villain tho. #DOOMSDAY is coming.” Batman-On-Film replied to the tweet with “Yep…” Alter previously said that Wonder Woman will be in Batman vs. Superman (which obviously turned out to be true), and that Batman will control drones from the Batcave (which has also been backed up by BOF). Jason Momoa has been in talks for a role in the movie, and there’s a strong chance that it’s for Doomsday. Callan Mulvey and Dwayne Johnson have also been rumored for the part. Hopefully, we’ll hear something official soon. [Via Batman-News]

Finally, in much smaller news, Gal Gadot’s casting as Wonder Woman has received the seal of approval from Fast & Furious co-star Vin Diesel. The actor posted the following on his Facebook page, with an image of Gadot and her mother attached. “In 2008, she sent in a self made video audition for FF4. Two weeks later, she became Gisele in Our saga… Now, she is Wonder Woman… so proud of you angel. Yeah, to the left… that’s Wonder Mom. /smile P.s. Acuérdate… believe in yourself, for it’s costs you nothing and often leads to great things.” Diesel will also be seen soon in a highly anticipated comic book movie, as he will play Groot in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

Batman vs. Superman (not the final title) is scheduled to hit theaters July 17th, 2015. The follow-up to Man of Steel, the next installment in the DC Cinematic Universe stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Diane Lane, and Laurence Fishburne, with Jason Momoa in talks to join. Zack Snyder directs from a script by David S. Goyer and Chris Terrio.
