GHOSTBUSTERS’ Ernie Hudson Up For A Role In CW’s THE FLASH Pilot
During an interview with Ghostbusters podcast Cross The Streams (via Comic Book Movie), actor Ernie Hudson was talking about his upcoming projects. He revealed that he is in talks for a role in The CW’s Arrow spin-off, which will star Barry Allen/The Flash (Grant Gustin). “In the meantime, there’s a spin-off of Arrow called Flash. I’m meeting the creators next week. So, I have to prepare for that.” He hints at the character he’s up for, but stopped before he could give much away. “His adoptive dad, or the dad of…” He finishes by saying, “His (Barry Allen) dad has a problem.”
On Arrow, Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) said that his father was wrongly accused of murdering his mother, Nora Allen. It’s likely that we’ll see him in some sort of capacity in The Flash pilot/series. However, it seems more likely that Hudson is up for the role of Detective West, Iris West’s father. Bludhaven Banter posted a casting call for both characters earlier this month, and the description for Det. West fits with what Hudson has said.
DETECTIVE WEST – Late 40s to Early 50s – African American -Detective West is an honest, blue-collar cop who’s seen it all. A soulful, funny caring father to Iris, and a surrogate father to Barry, West came up through the foster system himself. He took in Barry after his mother’s murder and his father’s imprisonment. He believes in Barry and supports Barry’s efforts to prove his father’s innocence.
Stay tuned for more news as we have it. If ordered to series, The Flash will likely premiere on The CW Fall 2014.
