Joseph Gordon-Levitt Comments On SANDMAN Movie News And Clarifies His Role
Yesterday, it was reported that Joseph Gordon-Levitt will produce and star in an adaptation of the Vertigo/DC comic book series Sandman, and is targeting it as a directing vehicle. The actor-director-screenwriter has confirmed the news on his Twitter account, @HitRecordJoe, and that creator Neil Gaiman was also involved. “Ladies and gentlemen, I’m incredibly honored to be working with David Goyer, Warner Bros, and @neilhimself on SANDMAN. #Prelude” In addition to a handful of unrevealing tweets in response to fans, Gordon-Levitt also said that he is only on board as a producer for now, and his directing/starring in the movie isn’t a done deal. “Just to clarify, folks. I’ve signed on as a producer on Sandman. The rest remains to be seen. Delighted you guys are excited. I am too!”
David S. Goyer pitched a Sandman movie to Warner Bros. last month, and the Batman vs. Superman scribe is on board as a producer and will supervise the writing of the script. A screenwriter will be hired shortly. Meanwhile, Gordon-Levitt is said to be finalizing his deal to star in and potentially direct the project, but stay tuned for more official news on the film.
