BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN: Jason Momoa Still Denying That He’s Playing Aquaman Or Any Other Character

Jason Momoa has been rumored for some time to be a part of Batman vs. Superman, which was recently moved to a Summer 2016 release. The Game of Thrones actor has since denied these reports, but rumors are still coming in. One of these attached Momoa to the role of Aquaman, who is reportedly featured at the end of the movie in a cameo setting up Justice League. Even The Hollywood Reporter said again last night that he is negotiating for an unspecified role.

Now, Momoa has weighed in on these rumors once more. Speaking with MTV at Sundance, the actor is asked specifically about the Aquaman rumor, and he reaffirms that he has no part in the movie. “I get it all the time. It’s just a rumor. It’s a rumor…I swear.” He’s so firm in his denial, that he gave the interviewer his permission to punch him in the face. “Man to man, you can punch me in the face. You’re allowed to punch me in the face. No, it’s a flattering rumor.” To watch MTV’s video interview with Momoa, click the source link below.

There is a history of actors lying about rumored roles in big budget movies. Recent examples include Paul Rudd’s claim that he isn’t playing Ant-Man shortly before he was announced for the role, as well as Benedict Cumberbatch as Khan in Star Trek Into Darkness. If Momoa really was playing Aquaman or another character in a cameo appearance, it’d be highly unlikely for him to spoil it ahead of its release. Of course, Momoa could just as easily be honest in his denial. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Batman vs. Superman (not the final title) is scheduled to hit theaters May 6th, 2016. The follow-up to Man of Steel, the next installment in the DC Cinematic Universe stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Diane Lane, and Laurence Fishburne. Zack Snyder directs from a script by David S. Goyer and Chris Terrio.
