Complete 1960s BATMAN Television Series Box Set Finally Arriving On Home Video In 2014

Fans of the classic Batman television series which aired from 1966 to 1968 will be very pleased with this news. Following a tweet from talk show host Conan O’Brien revealing the news, USA Today has confirmed that Warner Bros. Entertainment will be releasing a complete series box set on home video this year. Due to legal disagreements between WB/DC and 20th Century Fox, such a release for the Adam West-starrer couldn’t be put together. A slew of action figures and other merchandise, as well as a digital comic series titled Batman ’66, arrived last year. Well, an agreement has finally been reached. No further specs have been given. More details will be posted when announced.
Despite having a much campier tone than what is commonly seen in Batman mania, the Adam West Batman series is extremely iconic, and served as an introduction to the Caped Crusader for many. Featuring well-known villains such as The Joker, Catwoman, Mr. Freeze and The Penguin, it’s still one of the most recognizable incarnations of Batman to date. You can thank the classic theme and infamous catchphrases for contributing to that. Now, a new generation of fans will be given a proper introduction to what formally kicked off the Dark Knight’s popularity.
