MAN OF STEEL Sequel Finally Enters Active Development at Warner Bros.

Back when Man of Steel was released in 2013, Warner Bros. confirmed plans for a sequel. This sequel was later revealed to be Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. In addition to that film, Henry Cavill’s Superman will appear in the two Justice League movies.

WB confirmed in 2014 that a standalone Man of Steel sequel will happen within the 2016-2020 timeframe. Since then, we haven’t heard anything about Superman’s solo future…until now.

According to The Wrap, Warner Bros. has officially put the Man of Steel sequel into “active” development. The solo film is said to be a “top priority” for the studio, and it is important for them to get the character “right” in the eyes of the general audience.

Further details on this movie, including a director and screenwriter, are currently unknown. But The Wrap reaffirms that Man of Steel 2 will likely be released after Ben Affleck’s Batman movie, which is likely one of DC’s untitled 2018/2019 films. Could Man of Steel 2 be the other one? We’ll have to wait and see.
