BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN News Bits: Update On Illinois Filming + Susan Eisenberg Discusses Gal Gadot As Wonder Woman

Earlier this week, it was reported that Batman vs. Superman will film scenes in Yorkville, Illinois in mid-May, after a number of delays. However, Chicago Tribune has now updated its original article with a different start date for Illinois. The Man of Steel sequel will now shoot in Yorkville this fall. This makes sense, as production is expected to last several months in Detroit. The Illinois scenes will include the recently rebuilt Kent farm house. Batman vs. Superman is expected to begin filming in Detroit next month.

In other news, longtime Wonder Woman voice actress Susan Eisenberg weighs in on Gal Gadot playing the character in Batman vs. Superman. Best known for voicing Diana Prince in the Justice League/Justice League Unlimited animated series, Eisenberg has also voiced the character in Justice League: Doom, Injustice: Gods Among Us, and is now reprising the role in the DC Universe Online DLC “Amazon Fury”. While speaking to The Mary Sue about the latter, Eisenberg expresses enthusiasm for Wonder Woman finally heading to the big screen, and shares her hope in Gadot succeeding. “I’m not that familiar with Ms. Gadot’s work, but I can say this: I’m thrilled that Wonder Woman will be in a movie. I hope it’s the beginning of a lot more screen time for the character and for her stories, and I hope that Ms. Gadot succeeds wildly in the role because if she does, we’ll get to see more. There is a lot of pressure on her to do well, but the truth is the character of Wonder Woman will endure whether it’s in this project or future ones! As magnificently as an actor can embody these characters/superheroes, ultimately they exist as their own creations, and will continue to be in comic books, cartoons, television, film, and whatever medium comes next!” For the full interview, click the link above.

Batman vs. Superman (not the final title) is scheduled to hit theaters May 6th, 2016. The follow-up to Man of Steel, the next installment in the DC Cinematic Universe stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, and Laurence Fishburne. Zack Snyder directs from a script by David S. Goyer and Chris Terrio.
